Calling all sewers: If you are a sewing enthusiast that likes to add your own style to projects, the American Sewing Expo wants you to put on your creative hat, let your imagination go wild and enter our 8th Annual ASE Passion For Fashion! design challenge. This is a live challenge 
that will provide the opportunity for avid sewers to showcase their sewing and 
design talents complete with professional models and fashion show. The participants 
will be given a design challenge scenario and have all day Friday, September 25, 
to create their "secret project". Expo attendees will have the opportunity to follow 
the progress of the designers as they work on their creations. Contestants return 
on Saturday, September 26 to finish their creations and a last minute fitting on their 
professional model before the fashion show and photo shoot in the afternoon. 
A panel of industry fashion experts will judge and choose the challenge winner 
based on creativity, construction, fit, and composition. 

We encourage sewers of all skill levels to challenge their creativity and participate 
in this event.

Many prizes will be awarded and the top three winners, along with three audience 
members, will receive the following Baby Lock machines:
1st Place: Aria top of the line sewing machine! 

2nd Place: Imagine Serger with "Jet Air" threading & and no tensions "Automatic Thread 
Delivery System"!

3rd Place: Jane high speed sewing machine!

Deadline to enter is July 1, 2015. 

Submissions must be accompanied by a $25.00 non-refundable jury fee and 1 
fashion garment (no more than a 3-piece outfit) that has been created within 
the past two years. Fashion garment will be returned. 

American Sewing Expo Contests
Our very popular and inspiring contest, sponsored by Coats & Clark, for young sewers ages 8 - 18 is presented on the Fashion Stage at the show.
Contestants are split into three age groups for judging (8-11, 12-15, and 16-18) and provide a wonderful free fashion show for all to see.
These young sewers always amaze and delight attendees with their skills and creativity! 

All contestants will win prizes. The Grand Prize recipient will receive a Sofia 2 sewing machine, generously provided by Baby Lock!

All contestants that send in their intent to enter by July 1 will receive Thread Sampler as a gift from Coats! 
Garments do not have to be finished at that time just email us here by July 1, 2015 with your full name and mailing address saying you plan to enter and your gift will be mailed to you!

2014 Winning garments 
Everyone arriving by 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 27 will have the opportunity to win a Dream Sewing Room! 

When you arrive, you will be given 10 entry tickets. Fill them out, find the 10 American Sewing Expo boxes as they are noted on each ticket. Drawing for all prizes will take place at 5:00 p.m. You absolutely must be present to win! Prizes will be awarded from each individual box, followed by one Grand prize winner from all boxes combined! Everyone arriving by 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 27 will have the opportunity to win a Dream Sewing Room!

Calling all Sewers, Crafters, and Quilters!  

Push the Envelope is back for 2015 with a brand new and exciting theme - Tassels, Textures, & Trims. Enter this contest by filling out the contest entry form and mail to ASE. In July you will receive an envelope with A&E products to use in your contest entry.

We want to see where your imagination takes you. Entries can be anything sewn: quilt, garment, accessory, wall hanging, crafts, etc. Whatever you decide, just make sure you include tassles, textures, and trims. 

The first 100 to send in the entry form by July 1, 2015 will receive the envelope of products from A&E (envelopes will be send out after the July 1 deadline). 

Contestants have until August 10th, 2015 to send the completed project to American Sewing Expo.

Winners will be announced on September 25th and all acceptable entries will be on display at ASE September 25th - 27th.

Full Rules and Entry Form

The Challenge is to create a garment on a half scale dress form using the theme, “50 Shades of Red”. Participants are required to make their entry to fit on a professional 1/2 scale dress form. Entries must be submitted with complete dress form, including stand. Participants will receive a special
code to participate in the online sew-along with Designer Joi Mahon. Joi will lead you through the process of draping and designing on a dress form. Participants will be notified of the specific date and
code of the sew-along.

Deadline to enter is August 1.

Join us on Sunday for a special contest for anyone who loves making costumes! Any kind of costume will go - anime, steampunk, historical, TV, movie, video game, or comic book character to name a few. It could even be something straight from your own imagination! 

Fill out the entry form below and mail it in or bring it to the show with you on September 27th, 2015 to participate.

American Sewing Expo™ has partnered with Island Batik and Superior Threads to bring you an exciting new sewing challenge for 2015. 
Show us your fashion creativity using Island Batik fabrics - lush batik rayons designed by Kathy Engle and made in Bali, Indonesia. We want you to show us how batik rayon fabrics can be used in current and fashion forward garments. Use your imagination, have fun and you might just win the prize!

1st Place: $1,000 cash prize + 
                  Juki sewing Machine
2nd Place: $600 cash prize +
                  French European Dress Form
3rd Place: $300 cash prize
